Close a door another window opens...

To quote Maria from the 'Sound of Music' - when one door closes...another window opens.  I am drawn to doors and windows.  Perhaps it's something subliminal like beginnings and endings.

Perhaps, but I think it is something about framing a space that I like, a door or window sets a point of perspective.  Each of these pictures look to me like true pieces of art.

Elegant spaces

I often think which interiors (or exteriors) I would feel comfortable in. I adore the verandah of this old Clayfield residence with the bamboo chairs!

Oh to have multiple residences with multiple rooms to experience and enjoy these surroundings!

Obsession, addiction...?

My family are only a hair's breadth off staging a full scale intervention. I have a ridiculous love of vintage and antiques. When you boil it down, what I actually love is craftsmanship and items of beauty that were created when there was time to give attention to the minute details. See a couple of purchases above. My secretary tells me I'm 'tinny' which means I have good luck jagging bargains. Who knows. Right time and these items usually choose me. Above is a vintage french bergere armchair and two Hepplewhite parlour chairs which I have just purchased. Ah joy. Sigh, intervention imminent...
